Arenzano

Log book

Patrizio arrives at Arenzano Marina on board the Adriatica and goes round the harbour together with President Alessandro Albert. He discovers that the Marina of Arenzano is a very convenient and popular harbour because it is easy to get to from all the cities of northern Italy, a good place to set out from. It is very small, and takes just 220 boats altogether, but this makes it possible to know the clientele well and to provide a better service. The draught is 2-3 metres, the maximum length 20 metres. The channel to call is 9 (but you can also phone!) and in the harbour you can find all the services a yachter can require: light, water, electricity, toilet facilities, bilge disposal, also maintenances with boat towing and if you want to disembark for a while there is a beach too ...

The transit area is spacious (over 10% of the surface) and the entry is easy, providing that the north-easterly wind isn’t blowing (the harbour is exposed to north-easterly winds). In that case you need to get help from the employees, always on call. To get an idea of the prices, a 15-metre boat in the high season costs €70 a night including VAT.

Genoa is round the corner, but Arenzano is Arenzano. A different place, proud of its identity, which doesn’t like being considered “outskirts of Genoa!”

The harbour provides the following services:

  • Health transport
  • Maritime bureaucratic services
  • Fishing articles
  • Short-stay car park
  • Long-stay car park
  • Broker services
  • Pharmacy
  • Assistance for disabled
  • Services for animals

The MuViTA museum

The MUVITA museum (living museum of technologies and the environment) is a centre for scientific popularization that offers some teaching facilities, for both younger people and adults, on the themes of energy saving and efficiency, climate change and renewable energy sources. It stands in the place of the greatest ecological disaster in the Mediterranean, the sinking of the super tanker Haven. Following an explosion, the American ship sank in 1991 in the Gulf of Genoa losing thousands of tons of oil that still today pollute the sea off the chief town of Liguria.
